Obituary
Mr. M.D.P.Sarachandra (member No.119) passed away this morning. The funeral will take place at the Gorakana Cemetry in Moratuwa on the 5th Wednesday 2013 at 4.00pm. He leaves his wife and three sons. He taught at Royal College from 1975 to 1995.

RCPTA Tour to Indonesia
The Royal College Past Teachers’ Association undertook its foreign tour to Indonesia on the 21st April 2013. The tour was arranged by Sri Jayawardanapura Travels Ltd. Maharagama. It is the first time that the RCPTA handed the travel arrangements to this company. The cost of the tour quoted by them was reasonable compared to other travel companies and also the travel agent was to accompany the group.
 
Obituary
Mrs. H.K.D.I. Gunasekara (Member No. 76) of 276/3, Lake Road, Boralesgamuwa passed away last month after a brief illness. She taught English in Grades 4 and 5 and later in Grades 9 and 10.
 
Blood Donation Campaign Organised by the ’91 Group of Old Royalists
A blood donation campaign was held by the ’91 group of Old Royalists on the 7th February 2013 at the Skills Centre of the OBA Office Building. This was in aid of the Cancer Hospital, Maharagama.This group of old boys invited the RCPTA to participate on the occasion.
 
Teacher Felicitation – Group of ’81 Royal College Colombo
A teacher felicitation ceremony was held on the 12th March 2013 at the Skills Center of Royal College followed by a lunch at the Orient Club Colombo 7. The group of Old Boys belonging to the ’81 batch took time off their busy schedules to felicitate their beloved teachers who taught them during their school days at Royal College.
 
Annual Medical Camp of the Royal College Doctors’ Association
The Annual Teachers' Medical Screening Programme organized by the Royal College Doctors' Association in collaboration with Royal College Past Teachers Association was held on 9th February 2013 for the 14th consecutive time. This programme was aimed at promoting health and wellbeing of the present and past teachers of Royal College and their family members.
 
50 years of Friendship
Mr. K.H. Amaradasa and Mr. M.H.M. Farouk celebrated 50 years of their friendship on the 12th January 2013 in the presence of the committee of Royal College Past Teachers’ Association in the Conference Room of Royal College. A delicious cake depicting the 50th year of friendship was cut and served to the committee along with other refreshments.
 
Obituary
It is with great sadness we announce the passing away of Mrs. Victoria Udugampola on the 2nd of December 2012 at the age of 91 years.
 
17th Annual General Meeting of the RCPTA
TThe 17th Annual General Meeting of the RCPTA was held on the 10th November 2012 at the River Face Hotel in Koswatte , Nawala. Around 150 members participated for the meeting on this day.
 
Ordination
We announce the ordination of Mrs. Nalini Abeyratne, a member of the RCPTA into the Sambuddha Sasana on the 26th October 2012 at Yashodara Ashramaya in Ampara, Sri Lanka.

Day Outing

Trincomalee – Batticaloa Tour – June 22nd 24th 2012
The RCPTA tour to Trincomalee and Batticaloa took place from the 22nd to 24th June 2012. Our members were given the opportunity to bring along one other person of their choice with them. A total of 84 persons took part on the tour. Two super luxury buses were booked for the journey.
 
Social Service Project
This is to be held at the Kotahena Gunanada Vidyalaya on the 31st July 2012 at 9.00am.Members have made generous contributions towards this worthy cause. The items collected will be distributed on this day.
 
Raffle Draw
Raffle draw was held on the 14th July 2012 in the presence of The Principal of Royal College and Founder Members of the Association. 550 ticket books were printed each book with 20 tickets and all the tickets were sold.

The half yearly news letter was launched on the 14th July 2012 in the Conference Room. The Principal of Royal College Mr. Upali Gunasekara was presented with the first copy by the co- editor Mr. Bernard de Silva. Annual Alms Giving
The annual alms giving in memory of our departed members for the year 2012 was held at the Vajiraramaya Temple in Bambalapitiya on the 30th of June. Alms were offered to 10 priests. Two Ata Pirikaras and other pirikaras were also offered. Our members contributed generously in cash and kind to make this pinkama a success.
 
Class of ’80 – Teacher Felicitation Ceremony
A teacher felicitation ceremony was held on the 27th June 2012 by the old boys of Royal College who reached the age of 50yrs this year. Teachers who taught them (Period 1968 – 1980) were invited for the occasion. The president of the group Mr. Shalitha Wijesundara along with the organising committee did a wonderful job on that day.
 
Royal Thomian Cricket Match
This year too the past teachers had the privilege of witnessing the annual Royal Thomian cricket encounter as the Principal of Royal College Mr. Upali Gunasekara along with the organising committee offered 50 tickets to the past teachers. We are thankful for the gesture. Our members were provided with refreshments by the RCPTA.
